The Challenge
The project faced increasing urban flood risks driven by rapid urbanization, aging drainage infrastructure, limited available space for new stormwater assets, and the growing impact of extreme weather events caused by climate change. Existing drainage systems struggled to accommodate peak runoff volumes, creating flood-prone areas, waterlogging issues, and operational challenges for municipal authorities while requiring full compliance with environmental and flood management regulations.
Our Solution
Alada Solutions developed a comprehensive flood mitigation and stormwater management strategy incorporating advanced hydraulic and hydrological modeling, flood risk analysis, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), smart monitoring technologies, and resilient infrastructure design. The solution included retention and detention systems, underground attenuation tanks, high-capacity drainage networks, flow control structures, permeable surfaces, green infrastructure, GIS-based analysis, and real-time monitoring systems to optimize stormwater management and improve long-term climate resilience.
The Results
The project significantly reduced urban flood risks and surface water accumulation while improving overall drainage network performance and operational efficiency. Sustainable drainage solutions reduced pressure on existing infrastructure, enhanced environmental performance, and increased resilience against extreme weather events. Real-time monitoring and predictive flood management capabilities enabled faster response times, improved decision-making, and established a future-ready stormwater management framework for long-term urban sustainability.
